We have a fantastic opportunity for a Design Coordinator to join our team at our offices in Porthmadog, Gwynedd. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, the Design Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Design Manager in the coordination of the design process on a project from tender to client and end-user handover.
On a day to day basis, the responsibilities of the Design Coordinator will include the following (not exhaustive):
- Assisting the Design Manager in ensuring completeness of scope in the Design Brief and allocation of the remit to the designers
- Being accountable for the day-to-day management and coordination of technical and engineering activities
- Ensuring suitable designs are delivered within safety, sustainability, time, cost, and quality requirements
- Monitoring the progress and planned delivery of design and ensuring this matches the requirements of the Design Programme
- Reviewing the design deliverables in terms of constructability and liaising with the site team to obtain their inputs
- Producing and submitting Technical Queries and requests for information and managing their issue and distribution
- Providing technical input into the designer contracts
- Liaising with the project team to identify and document changes to the project scope and programme delays
- Maintaining key working relationships with all members of the project team including client staff, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Promoting the reduction of carbon from early design development
The ideal candidate will be a Design Coordinator who is in receipt of the following:
- Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers or equivalent relevant body desirable
- Knowledge and experience using various BIM packages
- Previous design management experience
