Wastewater Treatment Technician ( Sludge)

Circa £33,000 depending on skills. This includes a 20% shift allowance

Full time – 37 hours a week - 24/7 – Rolling 6-week shift pattern including days & nights

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Wastewater Technician In this role you will play a vital part in operating our sludge treatment centre at Thetford, ensuring the production of a biosolids product meets legal requirements for recycling.

What does it take to be a Sludge Technician?

  •  Practical mindset (full training will be given)

  • Awareness and application of Health & Safety rules and regulations in an Operational Environment  

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the wastewater treatment or environmental industry would be advantageous, although not necessary

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekend to ensure continuous operation

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written to internal and external stakeholders.

  • In this role you must be able to work within a confined space, and at height without restrictions.  Due to harness weight limits, your maximum weight cannot be in excess of 113 kilograms and you will be expected to complete relevant occupational health checks 

Key duties will include: 

  • Operate sludge treatment centre within defined critical control points (CCPs) to produce a biosolids product suitable for recycling.

  • Assist in operating the water recycling centre, optimising the site and ensuring it remains compliant

  • Make necessary adjustments to the sludge thickening plant and associated equipment optimal performance.

  • Monitor and record product and process performance, maintaining accurate records for compliance and improvement purposes.

  • Work collaboratively within a team to maintain high-quality standards.

  • Effectively communicate with team members to ensure seamless operation during rotating shifts, providing a crucial 24-hour service.
