The role:

The Johan Cruijff ArenA is home to Ajax Amsterdam, the Dutch National Team, and spectacular concerts and events. As General Manager, you are responsible for leading the daily operation of the entire public catering at the Johan Cruijff ArenA and achieving clear, measurable results. You work closely with the client, all stakeholders, and teams to develop and implement innovative solutions. You are financially responsible for the P&L, guide innovation projects, and provide perfect product quality and service standards, while also fostering a culture of hospitality and working towards optimal cost management.
Tasks and responsibilities:
  • Optimizing sales, profitability, and guest service in the retail catering activities of the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
  • Leading the daily operation and ensuring that everything and everyone is ready for unforgettable match days and concerts.
  • Achieving clear, measurable results in close collaboration with the client and key stakeholders.
  • Financial accountability for the P&L, budget management, and financial reporting. This includes maintaining constant control and insight into all operational and personnel costs.
  • Guiding innovation projects and creating commercial understanding throughout the team.
  • Effectively organizing the logistics processes in the stadium.
  • Encouraging an optimal culture of hospitality and being responsible for safety and health while complying with HR legislation.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a General Manager, preferably in retail catering or with a focus on sports and leisure activities.
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to achieve clear, measurable results.
  • Financial acumen and experience with P&L responsibility.
  • experience with logistics processes in a large operation
  • Innovative mindset and the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions based on data and trends.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, charismatic, and creative.
  • Experience in creating a culture of hospitality and promoting collaboration within teams.
  • For this role, it is important that you have a good command of the Dutch language.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, depending on the events calendar.
