As a Food, Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for all employees and visitors within the context of contract catering services. This role involves developing, implementing, and managing health and safety programmes and policies to comply with regulatory requirements and promote a culture of safety within the organisation.

Policy Development and Implementation:

·You will monitor, review and champion health and safety, food safety and allergen management processes and policies, ensuring our team members are engaged in promoting safety.

·Develop, implement, and update health and safety policies and procedures specific to contract catering operations.

·Ensure that policies align with local, state, and federal regulations as well as industry best practices.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

·Conduct regular risk assessments of catering facilities, kitchens, and related work areas.

·Develop strategies to mitigate identified risks and hazards, and implement preventive measures.

Compliance:

·Stay informed about health and safety regulations and standards relevant to the contract catering industry.

·Monitor compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards and ensure that the organization maintains adherence to these requirements.

·Help influence operational teams, location managers and senior chefs offering sound guidance in improving safety performance & compliance with company policy.

Training and Education:

·Develop and deliver health and safety training programs (HS, FS, Allergen management) for catering staff, emphasizing safe work practices, proper equipment usage, and emergency procedures.

·Support the implementation of health and safety, food safety and allergen management processes into new opening locations.

·Promote a safety culture by encouraging employee involvement in safety initiatives.

·Work with the wider Food, Health & Safety Team to review and develop safety documentation, projects, training, and safety initiatives.

·Attendance at regular BaxterStorey H&S meetings via teams, Conference Call or in person

Incident Investigation:

·Investigate and analyse incidents, accidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

·Maintain accurate records of incidents and provide reports to management as needed.

Emergency Preparedness:

·Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures, including evacuation plans and first aid protocols.

·Carry out visits to locations to offer support and complete audits to ensure locations are legally compliant as well as company policy compliant and following industry “Best Practice”.

Safety Audits and Inspections:

·Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of catering facilities to identify areas for improvement.

·Work with relevant departments to address and rectify any non-compliance issues

·Liaise with local authorities (EHO) following visits and action plans left to influence the timely completion of actions.

Documentation and Reporting:

·Maintain accurate and up-to-date health and safety records, including training records, incident reports, and inspection findings.

·Prepare regular reports for management, summarizing the organization's health and safety performance.

·Attend Client meeting to offer sound advice and help ensure BaxterStorey policies & practices mesh with Client requirements.

 

  • NEBOSH General Certificate 
  • Level 4 Food Safety
  • Proven experience in health and safety management, preferably in the contract catering or hospitality industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and standards.
  • You thrive on getting the best out of people and driving safety performance.
  • You draw satisfaction from influencing, training and supporting a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and influence a positive safety culture.
  • Analytical skills for incident investigation and risk assessment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and health and safety management software
