We are recruiting for a Financial Promotions Consultant, could you be the latest member of our Marketing Planning and Effectiveness team? The team you will be joining, Marketing Planning and Effectiveness, approve financial promotions for the Digital, Marketing and overall CMO (Chief Marketing Office) teams. Approving material sothat all promotions are compliant with regulatory and legislative requirements. You’ll be seen as a first point of contact for the Financial Promotions team and provide insight and help as required in to Financial Promotions regulation to aide in speedy and efficient approvals.

The Marketing Planning and Effectiveness team is made up of 8 people who are specialists in the following areas: Financial Promotions, Marketing Performance and Resource Planning. We are the backbone of our CMO team with internal colleagues as our customers, and we have them at the forefront of everything we do. We are here to enable the amazing plans we have within CMO. We provide rigour, discipline, and challenge to help us meet our aspirations.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Provide formal section 21 (Financial Services and Markets Act) approval for promotions created by the Marketing and Digital teams, that is both effective and wholly compliant with all relevant regulatory and legislative requirements, and in particular the:

    • MCOB, BCOBS, ICOBS & COBS Sourcebooks

    • HMRC ISA requirements

    • Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP)  

  • Set approval periods for financial promotions that reflect business risk;

  • To approve promotional material, as agreed in the process manual, liaise with  second line functions as required to be able to provide formal section 21 approval. This will include consulting on;

    • HMRC ISA requirements

    • GDPR 2018

    • Equality Act 2010

    • Consumer Rights Act 2015

  • Responsible for the approval of insurance-based promotional material produced by the Society. This role is subject to the completion of a minimum of 15 hours insurance-related learning on an annual basis.    

What Do We Need From You?

  • Build strong and effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders/customers/colleagues, both internally and externally to approve promotions in accordance with current regulation. In particular Regulatory Compliance (second line defence function), Legal, Audit and Financial Advice Risk.

  • Support with regulatory breaches of any relevant rules/legislation, notifying the Compliance Policy Team so that the event log can be updated. Help facilitate solutions, and appropriate escalation to management to agree any remedial action;

Qualification

Degree or higher education level qualifications or equivalent professional/vocational qualifications such as CII, experience or accreditation.

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and reporting skills.

  • Ability to influence, engage and work in partnership with senior stakeholders, customers and colleagues.

  • Ability to interpret and communicate regulatory requirements in relation to Society commercial objectives.

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external bodies / peer groups.

  • Ability to work within a team or individually.

  • Ability to make timely decisions based on data.

  • A proven track record of delivery of delivery results to tight deadlines.

Knowledge

  • Understanding of FCA Conduct of Business Requirements in respect of advertising material and financial promotions, and application to the general retail financial services sector.

  • Computer literate, Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Demonstrate self development in current role

Experience

  • Experience of working in a regulated firm with financial services and compliance practices.

  • Experience understanding complex information and implementing practical solutions – demonstrating a proactive attitude and initiative

  • Experience of planning and prioritising own work to support the achievement of departmental objectives.
