The Opportunity

EDF Renewables UK is one of the UK’s leading renewable energy companies, specialising in wind power and battery storage technology. We develop, build, operate and maintain wind farms and other renewable technologies throughout their lifetime. 

Our portfolio of nearly 1,000 MW consists of 37 wind farms – including two offshore wind farms – and one of the largest operational battery storage units in Europe. We’re also is seeking to deliver further growth from its own development pipeline or though securing new acquisitions of projects and has more than 2GW consented, in planning and development.

You will report into the Area Manager within the Operations & Maintenance department. You will be expected to deliver scheduled and unscheduled maintenance services on Vestas V90 Wind Turbines in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines.

The role of Wind Turbine Technician will be based at our Dorenell is located 5 miles South of Dufftown.

What you’ll be doing day to day..

 

As a Wind Turbine Technician you will maintain the highest levels of safety to comply with all health and safety requirements including the WTSR.
•    Scheduled service in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines
•    Reporting and planning daily maintenance activity
•    Coordinating local spare parts and consumable stock
•    Fault-finding, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair on all turbine systems, which will include mechanical, electrical and hydraulic assemblies and major components
•    Proactive repair or component replacement to prevent complete failure or system downtime
•    Supervising specialist and subcontractor activity during main component exchange

What’s my role and where will I fit in?

You will be a driven individual who is able to work well as part of team. You’ll thrive in this role if you possess knowledge of wind turbine technologies. Having knowledge of Vestas wind turbines would be a plus. You’ll maintain the highest levels of safety to comply with all health and safety requirements including the Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR) and have an awareness of working under High-Voltage Safety Rules (HVSR).

You’ll be comfortable working at height, provide out of hours and weekend on-call response to turbine breakdowns and ensure the highest level of turbine performance, cleanliness and availability. You may be required to travel away from home for training and to other wind farms in the UK.

The Skills

•    Qualification in electrical and/or mechanical disciplines to NVQ3 level (or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience)
•    Significant experience in an electrical, mechanical or hydraulic field technician role.
•    Knowledge of Vestas Wind Turbines would be a plus
•    Able to pass a GWO Work at Height Medical (good level of fitness)
•    Previous experience as an AT/AE under WTSR would be a plus
•    High level of computer literacy and willingness to learn internal working systems

•    Strong sense of organisation and planning
•    Enjoy working in remote locations
•    Ability to communicate and pass on technical knowledge

You must hold a full UK driving licence.
