Our Role in Universal Music Group

UMGB operates across UMG’s global ecosystem, collaborating with local music marketing and brand experts in over 40 markets worldwide. We work with a diverse roster of established and emerging artists to develop meaningful partnerships and create new generations of superfans.

The Opportunity – Your Role as VP, Global Business Development

This is an exciting leadership position where you’ll be responsible for driving new business opportunities and building strategic, high-value partnerships with global brands. By leveraging your expertise in brand strategy, commercial management, and stakeholder engagement, you’ll help shape music marketing programmes that create cultural relevance and measurable impact.

A Day in the Life at UMGB

In this dynamic role, no two days are the same. You’ll:

  • Brainstorm with global teams to develop cutting-edge brand campaigns that showcase UMG’s diverse artist roster.
  • Present strategic proposals to global brands, demonstrating how music can transform their marketing efforts.
  • Collaborate with our strategy, insights, and account teams to deliver exceptional solutions tailored to client needs.
  • Inspire and guide your team to reach new heights, empowering them to bring their best ideas forward.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a robust pipeline of new business opportunities, converting brand prospects into long-term partners.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with C-suite executives through strategic, consultative approaches.
  • Lead and oversee the end-to-end pitch process, from ideation to execution, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams in London, New York, and Los Angeles.
  • Design compelling presentations and innovative marketing concepts that maximise the potential of UMG’s unique assets.
  • Mentor and manage a talented team, fostering a collaborative environment that drives results and professional growth.

Skills and Attributes

  • Proven expertise in marketing, business development, and commercial strategy, ideally with 10+ years of experience.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with a talent for engaging C-suite stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in leading complex pitches and developing integrated marketing programmes across channels.
  • Advanced knowledge of digital marketing, social media, and data-driven targeting.
  • Financial acumen and the ability to manage budgets and reporting effectively.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, creative environment.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Passion for music and a deep understanding of the agency, brand, and entertainment landscape.
  • Experience working in a global, matrixed organisation is advantageous.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a related field.
