Langley Trust has an exciting volunteer opportunity for an enthusiastic, creative and positive individual to join us in the role of Volunteer Woodwork Leader at our housing and resettlement services where we support clients with multiple needs.

We are looking for someone to work with clients on a variety of creative woodworking tasks and projects, to teach and guide them through practical work and experience, with the goal of helping to improve their self-esteem and confidence.

Have you some basic training or trade experience that you can bring to the role of Volunteer Woodwork Leader to support practical activities for our clients? Key responsibilities:

Working under the direction of the Service Manager or other staff, you would:

  • Work alongside clients to give support, advice and guidance where required
  • Be able to demonstrate some basic woodwork skills to make objects such as flower boxes, bird boxes, hedgehog boxes.
  • Report any maintenance issues to the manager in charge of the workshop.
  • Keep the manager informed of any stock or equipment needs.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for everyone working in the workshop.
