Hinkley Point B are hiring for a newly created position to join us as our Transfer & Deconstruction Preparation Group Head.
As we move into the next stage of our station’s lifecycle, we are excited to offer an excellent opportunity to make a difference and drive change at Hinkley to carefully transition the site from Operational Defueling to Deconstruction. The Transfer and Deconstruction Group is a new organisation designed to safely plan and execute these activities without detriment to the delivery of the Station Defueling programme.
This position will lead and support the key programmes of Waste and Site Infrastructure. This opportunity allows the candidate to influence a key programme of work and lead the fleet as one of the first AGR’s to make this change.

Pay, benefits and culture
We can offer a competitive salary from £79,619 – £102,573 with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Nuclear Generation Company Agreement. The starting salary will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experience, and qualifications.

What you’ll be doing
The role will include the following responsibilities:
- Management of the station investment portfolio to ensure it is appropriately prioritised alongside existing Defueling work and drive engagement across the station.
- Drive delivery performance of the portfolio to cost and schedule.
- Liaising and interfacing with key stakeholders involved with programme scope and delivery.
- Monitoring and maintaining safety and compliance against new and existing work scope.
- Ensuring CDM duties are adequately covered in each project area in accordance with Company requirements. This includes acting as the point of contact when the company takes on the role of Principal Contractor.
- Deputising for the Transfer and Deconstruction Manager
Who you are
As a minimum, you will be educated to HNC qualification standard, or equivalent, in a technical or engineering field. You should also be able to demonstrate a proactive approach to maintaining high operational standards and have a high level of self-motivation, safety management awareness and good written and oral communication skills.
Group Heads are appointed normally through interview; in addition, their aptitude for people management will normally be assessed during the selection process through use of behavioural assessment tools and techniques. However, an individual must possess the minimum technical competence and it is expected that through the appointment process candidates chosen to become Group Head will show an aptitude for people management.
