Location: Whilst your base office will be in London, we’ll support you to work flexibly from home (providing a suite of IT equipment), whilst coming together on site to offer face to face support and collaboration on a weekly basis

Salary: Starting from £42k (depending on experience) + excellent benefits
Join EDF as a Research Engineer within the Smart Customers team and you will be responsible for leading and contributing to research projects related to Energy Hubs across the UK and Europe.
Smart Customers is a highly skilled international multidisciplinary team which explores a range of new technologies and business models to support EDF’s ambition to help Britain achieve Net Zero.
The opportunity…
As the Research Engineer, you will manage and contribute to a portfolio of projects relating to Zero Carbon Energy such as production of Hydrogen and its derivatives, storage, Direct Air Capture and heat networks. You will manage these projects to time, quality and cost, develop new opportunities and deliver to a defined success criteria.
Working closely with the wider R&D UK Centre, Smart Customers and the Zero Carbon Hub teams you will develop and deliver research projects for the benefit of EDF in the UK, UK Energy Sector and EDF Group. You will identify sources of external funding, successfully apply and/or bid for financial support for research projects and effectively communicate the results of the progress of agreed projects and deliverables.
You will be responsible for providing regular progress reports, presentations, technical papers, and briefing updates to senior management on market and technical developments and innovations.
What we’re looking for…
The role will require you to communicate key technical, economic, and financial analysis results to senior UK and international stakeholders, both internal and external to EDF, therefore we are looking for somebody with a proactive approach and excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
As the Research Engineer within the Zero Carbon Hubs team, you will have experience in developing, managing and delivering projects, knowledge of the UK energy system and experience of communication complex topics t audiences from a variety of backgrounds and seniority.
