Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of an Assembly Process Development Technician in the recently formed Industrial Automation product group.
The role will focus on the introduction and development of assembly processes, and support of low volume innovative, capable, and effective products at our Exeter site.
Responsibilities

Support and development of new, low volume, mechanical products and processes

Creation and ownership of process and equipment documentation in readiness for handover to high volume production

Analyse and monitor process capabilities and Introduce process controls.

Perform validation and prototype work to implement and verify designs during the process development phase.

Supporting the introduction of processes for the manufacture, assembly, and testing of new products.

Support of process equipment to ensure they are maintained, calibrated and downtimes are minimised.

Fault finding and repair of equipment with proposals and implementation of corrective actions.

Design, build and implement new jigs/equipment to improve process repeatability and reproducibility.

Root cause analysis with structured problem solving and investigation methods.
Key Requirements
-
Higher education qualification in a relevant technical discipline (such as Mechanical Engineering) such as HNC
-
Experience in production assembly
-
Experience in implementing structured problem-solving tools and root cause analysis techniques

Knowledge of developing assembly processes
Desirable Requirements
-
An understanding of control systems and their implementation
-
Knowledge and experience in 3D CAD, such Siemens NX
-
Training and experience in the use of manual lathes and milling machines
-
Knowledge of electronics assembly and assembly in automation
Person Specification
The successful applicant for this role will have good practical and problem-solving skills, complemented with an enthusiastic and committed approach. An ability to operate as an effective team player in a multi-disciplined team is essential. The applicant will possess good interpersonal and organisation skills and will be capable of managing their own time and tasks to meet production and project needs and expectations.
