Description: Parent and Child Foster Carer
Warwickshire County Council is seeking foster carers for parents and their children needing support for a few months. Parent and child foster placements may help a family stay together and provide a positive alternative to residential care, which can be isolating. Specialist foster carers provide practical and emotional supportto help the parent develop the skills required to meet their own and their child’s needs. If the parent has successfully completed an assessment within their fostering placement, they may then be supported to live independently with their child.
As a parent and child assessment foster carer, you will offer a time limited 12 week placement , in most cases where care proceedings are in place in respect of the child and an assessment of parenting ability is needed for planning and court purposes. The parent could be a mother, father or both. Additionally, the parent may be under or over the age of 18 years. Your primary role will be as part of a team that assesses and gathers evidence for whether or not the child can safely remain with their parent or needs to be removed from their parent(s) permanently or long term.
