Overview
We’re currently recruiting for an Operations Engineer at Sizewell B Power Station. Within the Operations Nuclear Logistics Group, the Operations Engineer is an integral part of the team who are responsible for the safe receipt, handling, storage, movement, conditioning and disposal of nuclear fuels and radioactive wastes.

Pay, benefits and culture
We can offer a salary from £50,672 – £79,619 and you’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

What you’ll be doing
You’ll be responsible for providing technical support to the Operations Nuclear Logistics Group Head and wider station organisation with respect to receipt, storage, movement, treatment, conditioning, transport and disposal of nuclear fuels, non-fissile fuel components and radioactive materials (including solid, liquid and gaseous radioactive wastes) in line with all licences, permits, regulations, company business strategy and industry best practices.
In this role you will also be required to provide oversight and supervision of contractors supporting Group activities (e.g. fuel receipt, fuel handling, waste treatment campaigns etc.).
Who you are
You’ll need an HNC (or equivalent) in a technical or engineering field and ideally be working towards Chartered Engineer/Scientist status. Knowledge of radioactive waste plant and management arrangements at Sizewell B would be an advantage, as would familiarity with nuclear fuel handling and storage arrangements. Full training will be given to supervise fuel route-related activities. You’ll need to demonstrate a proactive approach to maintaining high operational standards and the ability to work independently and as part of the team providing technical and logistical support to planned and emergent activities.
You should have a high level of self-motivation, safety management awareness and good communication skills. You should also show the attitude, commitment and flexibility to work with multiple teams across the station and with outside organisations/stakeholders, to deliver our business objectives safely and efficiently.
