Job Title: Housing Management Officer – Mental Health

We have a number of roles within Hestia to join us as Housing Management Officers including in our Domestic Abuse Services as well as Mental Health Services, due to the nature of these services we can only consider female applicants for the Domestic Abuse Service, however the Mental Health role is open to all. The This is a relatively new team offering support in our accommodation supported services for our clients.

About the Service/Department
The Housing Management Officer is an integral part of Hestia’s Domestic Abuse Supported Housing Team. Working alongside the service Support Workers and within a defined geographical area, the Housing Management Officer is responsible for all elements of housing management for our accommodation, including the safety and security of the buildings, health and safety checks, repairs, income collection and ensuring that all buildings meet the high standards set by the organisation.

About the role
To provide full housing management in our supported housing projects which include, targeted support to women affected by domestic abuse and persons with mental health needs.

Some other main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Supporting new service users to apply for welfare benefits, including housing benefit and establish rental payments
  • Undertaking any necessary legal action, including leading on the pre action protocol
  • Providing weekly/monthly/quarterly performance reports to the Income Service Manager

About you

  • An in-depth understanding of all aspects of housing management
  • DWP, revenue and benefits legislation knowledge.
  • Rent collection and arrears recovery management, plus an understanding of the pre action protocol
  • An understanding of civil options available to ensure the safety of the building
  • Knowledge and experience of move on options for people living in supported accommodation
  • Computer literate with the ability to use electronic recording systems to accurately record data
  • A strong sense of accountability
  • A high standard of written and spoken English
  • Numerate with the ability to analyse and present financial data to a range of audiences
  • Strong ITskills
  • Ability to achieve objective through working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to work sensitively with service users.
  • Knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse, mental health issues, drug and alcohol dependency and young person’s support.
  • Please note that 2 out of the 4 roles are subject to Schedule 9 (1a) of the Equality Act 2010 applies to this position. There is a genuine occupational requirement for the post holder to be female please
