Job Description

Renishaw’s spectroscopy product division is looking for a head of international sales to promote growth worldwide. This person will oversee the activity of the SPD worldwide sales teams with a focus on our three core business regions: Americas, APAC and EMEA. They will function as a conduit between these teams and central SPD resources: marketing, service, design, production, sales order processing, amongst others to ensure smooth and efficient business operation.

What will be the main responsibilities?

  • Delivering on group revenues at agreed margin levels
  • To support the international sales force with winning sales arguments and strategies to secure business against competitors, using lessons learnt from within the regions, spreading sales tales, and sharing best practice
  • Developing and implementing a strategy to increase sales of the spectroscopy products worldwide
  • Maintaining company tools to produce an accurate forecast and hold regular reviews of sales pipeline with the global sales force and key stakeholders
  • Oversee pricing strategy to increase market share whist maximising margins on worldwide sales and ensuring individual sales meet minimum Company margin requirements
  • Ensure sales teams keep an accurate and up to date CRM and report on global sales pipeline

What will be detailed duties?

  • Maintaining a good knowledge of the worldwide markets, with target territories, customers, and opportunities for growth
  • Working with the local sales forces to develop relations with key customers and develop new markets and opportunities
  • Develop existing and new distribution channels
  • Perform visits to regional sales offices to work with the local sales forces and aid in negotiating, and closing deals
  • Support and motivate the worldwide sales teams with coaching and mentoring,  developing tools to improve and monitor their performance
  • Conduct detailed order reviews to ensure order compliance and acceptable margin are achieved
  • Develop consistent sales messages to ensure the strength of Renishaw products are portrayed to customers and ensure that these are used by the global sales force
  • Oversee bespoke product pricing both at a strategic and margin level
  • Running periodical meetings with regional heads and other stakeholders to align strategy and focus
  • Develop and maintain a regular reporting mechanism from the subsidiary offices on market opportunities, threats, etc
  • Communicate with the SOP and sales teams to ensure smooth delivery of orders

Key requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in managing highly qualified scientific sales team
  • Knowledge of spectroscopy / analytical instrumentation market
  • Demonstrated experience in sales in spectroscopy or an adjacent area
  • Demonstrated experience in managing difficult situations with proven results
  • Budget control & management experience
  • Higher level qualification (degree or equivalent) in science, engineering, or related discipline Adaptability to new environments and scenarios
  • Flexibility to work within different countries, cultures, and teams
  • Proactive, results-oriented individual
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills
  • Flexibility to travel extensively worldwide
  • Driving licence

Desirable requirements

  • A science PhD
  • Technical knowledge of Raman spectroscopy instrumentation
