Overview

JOB PURPOSE

To facilitate improvement activities through training and coaching functional specialists to implement safety, productivity, quality and cost improvements in line with the Internal Manufacturing roadmap targets.

To facilitate Lean Academy Training and support the Internal Manufacturing team to develop their capability to identify and implement improvements for themselves. 

Please note that this role will be based at Castleford, with regular travel to Burberry Mill in Cross Hills.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manufacturing Support

  • Support the internal manufacturing team to monitor production performance and plan the actions required to deliver the business targets for safety, quality, productivity, leadtime and cost.
  • Coach teams regarding the use of visual management to drive ownership of area performance and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Be the first point of contact for specified area teams for problem solving support.
  • Support the 5S audit system and ensure understanding and buy-in from teams.

Projects

  • Support and facilitate improvement projects in all areas of the business, working closely with project leaders to plan and execute projects effectively.

Training and Coaching

  • Support the internal manufacturing team to identify, develop and execute Lean pilots and projects to increase overall productivity.
  • Develop the skills of the Internal Manufacturing team members to allow them to become self-sufficient, solving their own problems or asking for support when required.
  • Deliver Lean Academy and Lean Awareness training modules within Internal Manufacturing.
  • Develop training materials and approaches, including bespoke training sessions to support teams to up-skill team members and apply to specific opportunities.
  • Monitor training and improvement activities to ensure expected benefits are achieved following training.

Work Study

  • Engineer methods and layouts, ensuring processes are measured accurately, partnering with Quality, Technical, Mechanical Engineering and Production to maintain and develop quality and productivity levels.
  • Work with teams to continuously improve methods of manufacture and reduce costs through engineering and 5S  improvements.
  • Develop work standards (SOPs) in partnership with the production team which are clearly defined, regularly monitored, and updated following any changes.

New Product Introduction / Product Changes

  • Develop costings based on SMVs for new products to allow cost breakdowns to be shared within Burberry.
  • Develop new methods and work standards (SOPs) in partnership with the production, quality, mechanical engineering and technical teams to ensure new products achieve business targets.

 

PERSONAL PROFILE

 

QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS

  • A self-motivated individual able to prioritise own workload
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience of training and coaching others to achieve sustained improvements
  • Confident to analyse data for trends and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills to guide a team through a change project
  • A lean advocate with experience of tools such as structured problem solving, VSM, SMED, 5S, Kanban, etc.
  • Experience of training and coaching others to achieve sustained improvements
  • Proficient in the use of Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook
  • Bachelor's degree advantageous
  • AutoCAD experience preferable
  • Institute of Management Services Qualification

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in cultivating a sustained Continuous Improvement culture from Shop-floor to board
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience through influencing, leading activity teams and driving change
  • Experience practicing in a manufacturing / supply chain environment
